Another Charm Against Thieves
To the Holy Ghost my goods I give
That in this place are set,
To the Father and the Son
That no thieves may get.
And if any thieves this way come
My goods for to fetch,
May the Holy Ghost unto them come
So nothing will they get.
And make them stay
Till I come back;
I pay to the virtue of the Holy Ghost,
the Father and the Son.
Now I go my way--come what may!
If any thieves this way come, I stay.
I bind you, thieves,
& you do conjure
As St. Bartholomew bound the Devil.
