Predictions On St. Paul's Day*

If Saint Paul's Day be fair and clear
Then shall there be a happy year.
But if it chances to snow or rain,
Then shall be dealt all kinds of grain.
And if the wind be hard on the loft,
Then war shall vex the country oft.
And if the clouds make dark the sky
Both cattle and fowl that year shall die.
